Spanky

I never asked to get old, but age crept up on me just like it does to everything else.  I could not run as fast as I used to, I took more naps and have the same medical problems all older dogs have. You get old and things just do not work as well as they used to, you know?  My family did not seem to understand that and threw me and my brother, Alfalfa, into a kill shelter and probably went to get a younger and better dog.  Better dog.  I was the best dog I knew how to be but it just was not good enough for them.  I tried to be strong in that horrible place for Alfalfa, we were all we had now.  Both Alfalfa and I started to get this horribly painful cough that just would not go away.  I think they call it kennel cough.  Just when I was about to give up, a nice person from the CSAC came and took Alfalfa and me away to a vet hospital.  We were given our own special room and nursed back to health by some very nice and caring people.  I am currently in a foster home, waiting to find a new family who will love me for me and not for what they want me to be.  I know that the CSAC spent a lot of money on getting the best care for Alfalfa and me and I would like to help them back.  I know that the majority of people that read my plea do not have a lot of money, but even the smallest donation helps to save other dogs, like Alfalfa and me, who were threw away in a kill shelter.  An act of kindness, no matter how big or small, is equally appreciated by the large heart of a loving dog.
