Miss
Ears
When your world
comes crashing down, I mean to tell you, it really does a nosedive! My
mistress tried to explain to me that she is dying, and that she is sending
me to a nice group of people who will try to find me a loving home with
a new family so I wouldn’t have to be by myself. I didn’t want to go, but
I could see how much pain my mistress was in and I didn’t
The lady from the CSAC took me to the Vet Hospital for a check-up. She told me that’s what they do with all the new dogs they take into rescue…just to make sure there are no hidden problems. The veterinarian who examined me must have found lots of problems, because they admitted me to the hospital instead of letting me go to the kennel. They ran tests on my eyes and ears, and two days later, the veterinarian said the glaucoma was so advanced that to stop the severe pain in my eyes, they would have to be removed. Since I could hardly see out of them, it didn’t matter to me so much, and the pain was really getting bad. I am getting better, now that the pains in my eyes have stopped, and even enjoy eating again. All the people at the hospital treat me special, and my veterinarian tells me that as soon as my eyes heal completely, I am going to a specialist to have a bilateral ear canal ablation to stop the pain in my ears. She explained the procedure will leave me almost entirely deaf, but at least I will no longer suffer from the intense earaches. When I’m all better, I wish my mistress could see me and how I’ll be pain-free and frolicking, so I could give her kisses and thank her and say a proper “good-bye”. But I know one day we will be together again over the Rainbow Bridge, where I’ll see her smiling face and hear her call my name, and we will walk through the grass side by side just like we used to do. Until then, I will do my best to make another family happy, and give them my love and loyalty for as long as I can. I’d also like to try to repay the kindness of the CSAC and some of the thousands of dollars they have spent to make me feel better, so the money will be there if other dogs like me come along who desperately need their help.
