Wigglebutts in Need
Updated: 4/05/08

We raised $92 this week.

Ladybird is our pretty in pink Weekly Wigglebutt Spotlight this week.  She is a very sweet little lady, who was in some pretty rough shape when she came into the rescue.  Her medical bills totaled over four thousand dollars.  She is happy and healthy now, living with her forever family, but there are always older dogs like Ladybird that have been so neglected that they need intense medical treatment.  Please donate to Ladybird so we can continue to save all cocker spaniels no matter what physically condition that they are in.

Ladybird

Raised so Far: $200
Still Needed: $4,139.51

Don’t let my age fool you, dears, I can still keep up with those younger pups.  My name is Ladybird, most likely named for our former first lady, Lady bird Johnson.  I had a good life with my mistress, I consider myself a very lucky lady, and when she died it broke my heart.  I went to her daughter to grieve, but instead realized that not only did she not want to grieve with me, she wanted nothing to do with me...

The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center Inc., unlike many other rescue organizations, opens our hearts and our homes to Cocker Spaniels (and "honorary" Cocker Spaniels) regardless of age or medical conditions. We truly believe that older dogs have lots of love yet to give, and sick dogs will love us all the more when they are made well. This has proven true for us over the many years we have been rescuing abused, neglected, and "thrown away" Cocker Spaniels. Because of our beliefs, our work is never done, our hearts are always full, and unfortunately, our treasury is always empty. Can you help us heal a dog in need by sponsering one of our wigglebutts in need?

Brandi

Raised so Far: $125
Still Needed: $881.75

I don’t know what happened to my family…they just suddenly disappeared when I became sick. They were there one day and I was walking the streets of Baltimore alone the next.  I don’t know what I did wrong...

Cookie

Raised So Far: $310
Still Needed: $1,325.20

I do not know what happened the day they took me to the shelter.  My family had gotten tired of me.  I had been with them for…oh let me think, it’s terrible to get old… around eleven and a half years and I had grown old.  I guess I just was not any fun anymore, especially when I began to lose my eye sight, and they stopped loving me...

Kayleigh

Raised So Far: $478.25
Still Needed: $768.25

I was born, raised and worked in a puppy mill.  It was loud, smelly and the people there frightened me.  Litter after litter of my precious babies were taken away from me by those people and while it broke my heart I just hoped that where they were going was better than when they were with me...

Kellie

Raised so Far: $400
Still Needed: $1,167.34

My name is Kellie and I was rescued from a shelter in Baltimore on St. Patrick's Day. I've been through a lot. When I came in, I was over 50 lbs which I'm told is twice what I should weigh. When the vet performed my spay surgery, she said that it was extremely difficult because of all the extra weight that I was carrying...

Kinslee

Raised so Far: $675
Still Needed: $452.30

I was with the first group of 4 girls were saved from the puppy mill and we were litterly frozen with fear. If we saw anyone coming, we would get in a pile in the corner of the kennel with out backs to the people. Kayleigh , Trinity ,Winnie (CSAC gave us our first names) and I always had to be touching each other. THIS WAS CRUCIAL TO OUR SURVIVAL during the rescue...

Koko

Raised so Far: $2,555
Still Needed: $3,187.77

My name is Koko, and I wish I didn’t have to tell you my horrible story, but I need to, if other rescued dogs are going to have the help they need when the time comes. I am ten years old, and I guess my family thought that meant I was too old to live any longer, so one night they drove to a construction site and threw me into a big dumpster with the rest of the trash and drove away...

Lacey

Raised so Far: $361
Still Needed: $5,106.43

I don’t know why I had to leave my Mom, but she held my head gently in her shaking hands and told me she had to go away to a nursing home and couldn’t take me. Her tears fell on my nose as she kissed me good-bye and I thought my life was surely over...

Lucy

Hi, I'm Lucy, and I'm one lucky girl. My family decided my sister and I were too much trouble to take care of, so they threw us away. But the Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center was there to take us in, and now we live with a terrific family who loves and takes care of us...

Maddie

Raised so Far: $200
Still Needed: $995.78

My name is Maddie and the CSAC saved me from the Baltimore County Shelter.  I’m not sure how I got there.  One minute I was in the car with my family and the next I was wandering around lost after they stopped the car for a pee break.  I want to believe they called for me and tried to find me, but that I could not hear them because I’m deaf.  I hope that they did not just dump me because I was old.

Mason

Raised So Far: $550
Still Needed: $1,455.34

My name is Mason, but my foster Mom calls me May-May. She says it's a term of endearment. When I first arrived at her house, I gave her lots and lots of kisses because I was SO glad to be out of that awful kennel! She told me that she loved the kisses, but my breath was horrible...

Miss Ears

Raised so Far: $345
Still Needed: $2,452.26

When your world comes crashing down, I mean to tell you, it really does a nosedive! My mistress tried to explain to me that she is dying, and that she is sending me to a nice group of people who will try to find me a loving home with a new family so I wouldn’t have to be by myself...

Molly Brown

Raised so Far: $275
Still Needed: $935

My name is Molly Brown, but everyone just calls me Molly. When I was rescued I had some disease called heartworm and I have had several treatments at the vet's office for it. I'm supposed to stay very quiet and not do much but that's very hard for me because I'm such a sociable girl...

Noelle

Raised so Far: $145
Still Needed: $982.30

They call me “Dog #6” – what kind of name is “Dog#6”? It sounds like something from a prison movie about the Communist gulags prison camps. And rightly so. The only ID I ever had was a microchip number…just like other breeding stock. I was a just a one of hundreds of other nameless dogs who were kept in dank cages and repeatedly force bred in deplorable puppy mill conditions...

Nora

Raised so Far: $210
Still Needed: $3,835.81

Hey y’all, my name is Nora. I’m a lost girl because my family threw me away. I had lumps on my chest and underside, so instead of taking me to the Vet, they put me out on the side of the road one night. Believe you me; it was scary being all alone and without my family.

Sandy

Raised so Far: $100
Still Needed: $1,049.66

I'm Sandy and I'm a very happy girl now! Not so long ago, my life wasn't so great. My sister, Muffin, and I were abandoned in a fenced yard. The people who left us there didn't care about us at all because we had no water and the only food was a few green plums that fell from the tree in the yard...

Shadow

Raised so Far: $610
Still Needed: $1,139

Hi, I'm Shadow and I'm a "whirlwind of hope looking for an anchor," or so says a behaviorist who came to the kennel to evaluate me because I was in rescue for a while without being adopted. My owner died, and I was left with him for almost three days before help came. I tried to wake him, but he wouldn't get up...

Smokey

My name is Smokey and everyone here at CSAC has been so nice to me. They spent almost $600 at the vet hospital to get me well after I was dumped at the shelter by my family, who didn't take very good care of me. They kept me in a small cage all the time and yelled at me if I had accidents...

Trinity

Raised For Far: $887.64
Still Needed: $1,764

My name was # 3…that’s it……just #3. I was so scared without my friends. As foster homes came along, I lost one friend after another and had NEVER been alone in my life. It was terrifying. I sat in the corner of the kennel depressed for weeks. I hoped my dark brown color made me invisible...!
